I have this to say about Bullshit or Fertilizer.

I've read a lot of books in my life and I liked every single page of this one. It is just perfectly done is all, and better yet, I think that I could pick it up tomorrow or in a year and get the same good feelings. His book delivers something rare. All wheat, no chaff. He has hit a home run.

Reading it made me feel happy and loved, and wanting to say thank you.

This is the best book I have ever read.

Being in the corporate world, we do not see these gems often...I wish I could get it to every CEO, so they realize what life is really all about. It is amazing.

It is a quick read... I was sad when it was over. But I would suggest it to anyone who has a dream or is inspired to do something different with their life. I gave this book as Christmas gifts and am still getting thank you's.

Great job...thank you for keeping it real.

When is Number 2 coming out?

Nice to meet you . I'm Manabu Okuda from Japan.

I read your book . It's very sensational for me and your word has power . From that day I read your book, my heart was changed. I realize that I'm Superman but I have to perform Clark Kent.

I notice that I want to draw illustrations and operate a company .

I felt many many things in your book . Thank you very much !

This is an amazing little book.

The night I received my copy, I crawled into bed to check it out, intending only to skim read a few pages and look at the pictures. This book has such a feel good hook that I didn't put it down until I was done reading the whole damn thing, and now it is in my handbag so that I can pick it up, or lend it out, anytime the mood hits me.

It is hard to define why BSoF is so good. Its a self-help, motivational book with style. The book is divided into small, bitesize chunks, each acting like a little blowdart of encouragement The illustrations are great, the text is well written and witty, and the layout is great (OK, so jamyla paid me to say that.) What you come away with is this sense of well being, a sense of confidence in your own ability, and that alone is something I'd pay thousands for!

If you are a writer, a singer, a painter, a poet - an artist of any sort, you need this book. It is only US$10 (plus p&p) and I swear it is well worth it. It'll make you want to write, sing or paint, It'll make you want to get your stuff together and BE what you want to be (not what you feel you have to be).

i recently read this nutty book called "bullshit or fertilizer" (written by a family of seers, biovisionaries, and funfolk) and it knocked me on my ass. (the same ass i have been dragging and sitting on instead of getting in gear for my artistic endeavors.)

so tonight, i meet with a potential funder. and i have to finish the promo for my -- yes MY -- documentary film.

since my alleged graduation from the school of the arts i have spent 15 years teaching art, supporting art, defending art, fighting for others' right to make art, and financing art. now i am making art and hopefully easing some nagging acid reflux at the same time!

love love love to yall - and thanks for the butt-kicking.

My friend Pierre Bennu is a painter, filmmaker, d.j., teacher and a full-time artist. Him and his wife Jamyla, also my friend, have one of the most creative homes in all of Brooklyn. Neither of them hold down a j-o-b. They teach, build websites, edit films, throw up murals, and create whatever needs to be created to keep the home fires burning. Pierre recently wrote a little book entitled: Bullshit or Fertilizer: Tough Love for Artists on the Fence.

I am so amazed at how they turned this project around. He called me about two weeks ago and said: I wrote a book last night. Apparently some young woman was upset about her life and Pierre gave her a passionate speech about believing in her work and living as an artist. When she left, he thought, damn, how many times do I have to have this conversation, I'm tired of having this conversation. And that's the first line of the book: "I'm writing this book because I'm tired of having this conversation." Tough love indeed. So about a month later, the book is sitting here on my bed. Printed, bound, and everything. Who knew it could happen so fast?

It is both hilarious and instructive. Let me see if I can share something from it. Oh, this is one of my favorite pages. The section is called Speak It 2 You, it's about the power of words:

"Stop talking about people, especially people you hate.

Who do you like? Who do you admire?

Speak their name constantly, instead. Speak of the good that people do.

Did you know Dikembe Mutumbo gave $3 million to start a hospital in Congo?

Talk about that."

It's totally inspiring to see the product of someone's imagination.
