My brother once told me that we experience everything we're going to learn in life by age seven. From then on, it's the same principles played out again and again on different levels.

Don't Walk is one of a series of films called Inner Children's Stories that examine these fundamental lessons. With this series I hope to reflect and celebrate the everyday heroism we embody as children.

It was the coldest day of the year and the only day we could use this actress. We had 2 rolls of 8mm film and no room for second takes. The only “blooper” in the film was when a kid crossed the street with her mother directly in front of the camera. I said some expletive because they'd walked into the shot and I thought we wasted film. The mother ignored me and the kid turned around and looked right into the camera. It ended up being perfect. It was from this experience that I knew I loved working with kids.
